Our History
Ever since I was a nine-year-old boy, I wanted to be a butcher. As kids back in Dublin, we all helped out in our family butcher shop after school, on holidays, Saturdays plus we opened on Sunday mornings too where we sold hundreds of cooked chickens. At first, it was just my Dad, my two older brothers and two older sisters. As the youngest, I would be left at home crying, “ It’s not fair, why can’t I go to work”
I opened my first butcher shop in 1994 in Woodvale Boulevard Shopping Centre, as it was known then. The shop was an open shell. The business was created out of nothing but built on principles that were instilled into me as a child where experiences both positive and negative were gained over the years. The McLoughlin’s name is long gone from Woodvale but reputation remains strong 20 years later.
Keen to grow the business, I moved to Malaga in 2001 where today we produce and supply quality meat products to families, butchers, delis, restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, caterers and mine sites across Western Australia.
Our business is based on traditional butcher shop values where quality, service and consistency, comes at a fair price. My father, Joe McLoughlin was a very inspirational and innovative man who always quoted “you have to sell for tomorrow and not today”. These are core principles that my brothers back in Ireland and I honour today. As they say, the rest is history..
